About the branch:
With many members in Tokyo and others located across the country, the BOVF Japan branch provides a forum for Japanese-resident Britons to share their views and concerns.
We are active in lobbying the British government and in using the media to draw attention to issues affecting UK citizens living in Japan.
For example, in the run-up to the 2024 General Election, letters from BOVF Japan highlighting problems facing overseas voters were published in the Guardian and Financial Times.
The BOVF Japan branch, active since February 2024, was one of the first to be established.
Members keep in touch through a dedicated WhatsApp group, which new members are welcome to join.
We hold occasional online meetings, and face-to-face meetings where possible (something that is more feasible for those based in Tokyo than elsewhere in Japan).
The BOVF Japan branch encourages members to also sign up to the British expats in Japan Facebook group – and vice versa!
