On the 26th of September, Bruce Darrington, Chair of BOVF, met Chris Hinchliff, Labour MP for North-East Hertfordshire, for a coffee in Royston.
It was the same shop where Bruce had met Chris during the General Election campaign.
They discussed all the issues that affect overseas voters again.
Chris is very sympathetic to us regarding many of the issues that affect overseas voters.
He would particularly like to help us resolve the university fee issue, and he agreed to be a champion MP for BOVF on this.
Later, he had a Teams meeting with Simon Landy, our policy chair for University Fees for Brits resident overseas, and they went through the draft policy document.
Chris is now waiting for the fully costed policy before proceeding further.
If you are not aware of the issues BOVF campaigns for, they are;
- UnjustFrozen Pensions
- Unfair Overseas Uni Fees for British students studying in the UK
- Harsh Spousal Reunion rules
- Right to a British bank account
- Discriminatory Housing Loan Interest.
- Using Embassies as polling stations
- Creating Overseas Constituencies
