On the 25th of September, Bruce Darrington had lunch with James MacCleary, the Liberal Democrat MP for Lewes, in the constituency.
Over lunch, James agreed to be the Champion for our policy on Spousal Reunion rules (for British citizens who marry foreign spouses when living overseas).
James had just been appointed to be the Liberal Democrat spokesperson in parliament on European Affairs, and he felt there would be good synergy in championing this issue for BOVF.
James also introduced Bruce to his head of parliamentary office, Ben Thomas, for the purpose of brainstorming on how to improve communication between James and his overseas registered constituents.
If you are not aware of the issues BOVF campaigns for, they are;
- UnjustFrozen Pensions
- Unfair Overseas Uni Fees for British students studying in the UK
- Harsh Spousal Reunion rules
- Right to a British bank account
- Discriminatory Housing Loan Interest.
- Using Embassies as polling stations
- Creating Overseas Constituencies
